Sign petition via Global Citizen

Sexual violence in conflict and emergency zones is a serious, present-day atrocity affecting millions of people, primarily women and girls. It has long been used as a tactic of war and employed on a large scale by armed groups to humiliate opponents, terrify individuals and destroy societies.

  • Between 250,000 and 500,000 women were raped during the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.
  • Sexual violence was a characterizing feature of the 14-year long civil war in Liberia.
  • In the Democratic Republic of Congo approximately 1,100 rapes are being reported each month, with an average of 36 women and girls raped every day. It is believed that over 200,000 women have suffered from in the Democratic Republic of Congo since armed conflict began in the country.

Demand justice for Zeus the cat brutally killed by a hammer and then hung in a tree

A beautiful cat was found dead hanging in a tree with its eye missing after days of sadistic taunting by the feline’s killer after it went missing.

The horrific ordeal began for Zeus the cat days before he disappeared when he returned home partially shaved. Two other cats on the street in Morayfield, Queensland have also been found partially shaved.

Zeus then disappeared from the family house and in a sick and twisted game, a tuft of fur from Zeus was placed into the owner’s house every day after the disappearance.

Zeus’ owners put up posters of Zeus, desperate to bring their ‘friendly, playful’ cat back home.

Then the dreaded phone call came – he was found dead hanging in a tree with an eye missing.

The RSPCA conducted an autopsy on the cat and found that he had been killed by a blow to the head with a hammer before his body had been hung in the tree.

The sick and twisted killer of Zeus must be found and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Other cats in the street and surrounding area may be awaiting the same horrific fate.
