Prioritizing Menstrual Hygiene Management is Key to Ensuring Girls Can Stay in School

None

It’s a fact: everyone wins when girls and women access a full education. Educated girls and women are shown to have better maternal health and they are better equipped to raise healthier and more educated children.

And when a country increases its number of women educated through the second grade by 1%, it also raises its annual per capita economic growth by 0.3%.

Admin note: Child pornography IS child abuse, there is no other way to look at it. The children involved – children, who cannot give their consent to sexual acts, and may have been coerced, forced or drugged – are abused, molested and raped for the entertainment of others. Giving advice on hiding any crime is appalling, but giving advice on hiding a crime such as this is abhorrent and unacceptable.  Continue reading

Take Action To End Trafficking: Strengthen The Child Welfare Response

Abused or neglected young people are vulnerable to the recruitment and control tactics of human traffickers.

Bipartisan House and Senate versions of the Strengthening the Child Welfare Response to Trafficking Act (H.R. 1732 and S.1823), would help improve state child welfare systems in order to better protect children.

H.R. 1732 and S.1823 use existing resources to better serve vulnerable youth. Passing this legislation would be an important step toward creating the safety net we need to end child trafficking in the United States. Continue reading

Let Schools in England know they are required by law to have a medical conditions policy

Petition by Louise Fyfe-Taylor via Change.org

My daughter Jenny has Type 1 diabetes. That means by law her school should have had a long-term medical conditions policy in place to protect her and other children with long term conditions, like ME (chronic fatigue syndrome), asthma, arthritis, coeliac disease, epilepsy, migraine and many more.

But after Jenny had a major problem at school recently, I found out they didn’t.   Continue reading

UK: Protect the Children of Yemen from Starvation

Petition via Avaaz

A child in Yemen dies every ten minutes. But Yemen’s kids aren’t just starving to death: they are being starved. Deliberately.

And our government is one of the biggest suppliers of arms to the coalition doing it.

For two years, British-made bombs have been falling from British-made planes as part of a Saudi-led coalition attacking Yemen. The same coalition is blocking aid into the country, where 4 in every 5 people need emergency assistance. Continue reading

Call On The UN Human Rights Commissioner To Establish A Commission Of Inquiry That Collects Evidence

None

Nadia Murad was taken as a sex slave by Islamic State (ISIS) militants, when they invaded the Sinjar district of northern Iraq in mid-2014, killing more than 3,000 Yazidi civilians and capturing up to 7,000. Nadia saw her brothers killed and was held captive, like many other Yazidi women and girls, for months before escaping.

Nadia has campaigned for countries to investigate and prosecute the Islamic State for its crimes against Yazidi people to hold IS troops accountable. Continue reading

India Must Have a National Sex Offender Registry

Petition via Change.org – Please sign and share

I feel really angry!

A man sexually assaulted hundreds of schoolgirls over 12 years. He was arrested once for 6 months but after he got out of jail, he continued raping young girls. Some of them were just 9-years-old.
How can we as a society let this happen?

I am a 26-year-old working woman and I feel appalled by the fact that every 20 minutes a woman is raped in India.

End the wrongful detention of Palestinian children

End Wrongful Detention of Palestinian Children

Sign the petition here

Dear Philip Hammond

As citizens of the UK and the world we call on you to use all of your powers to end the abuse of Palestinian child prisoners by Israeli authorities.

We ask you to endorse freezing all preferential trade agreements with Israel until that state upholds the rights of Palestinian children and implements international law. It should be noted that every year around 700 Palestinian children, even as young as 8 years old, are arrested and detained without proper trial or access to law or their parents.
